SUSTAINABILITY

Here at Avanthis, we are passionate about spreading awareness on the negative impacts of fast fashion and to help more people understand the importance of supporting ethical practices in the fashion industry and shopping sustainably.

We have selected some videos and articles to help you understand more about these topics, and to explain how you can contribute towards this positive movement by simply shopping more consciously. Although we are a fashion business, we do not believe in pushing our customers to shop excessively! Sustainability is also all about retaining what you have in your existing wardrobe and reducing the demand for more clothes in order to ultimately reduce waste in our environment. Hence, we encourage shoppers to think twice before buying more, and to ask yourself these questions while shopping: 'Do I already have something similar? Do I really need this piece of clothing?'

Feel free to chat with us if you any questions. We are eager to hear from you and to guide you along understanding more about sustainability.

Why Sustainable Fashion Matters

"In recent years, sustainability has become a buzzword and turned a few heads. Just as consumers today are taking a closer look at the food they consume and the chemicals they put into their bodies, they are also shifting their purchasing decisions to create a cleaner environment through the clothes they wear."

Made in Poverty: the true price of fashion

Chameli works in a factory in Bangladesh that supplies clothing to Australian household name department store, Big W. Despite working in the industry for six years, Chameli takes home as little as $128 a month. Even when she works overtime — as late as 3:00am at least once a week during busy shipment times — the most she earns is $165 a month. Her average rate of pay is about 51cents an hour.

What is climate change? A really simple guide

"The Earth's average temperature is about 15C but has been much higher and lower in the past.

There are natural fluctuations in the climate but scientists say temperatures are now rising faster than at many other times"
